Leo Burnett Melbourne hires four new creative directors

Leo Burnett Melbourne has bolstered its creative department by appointing four new creative directors: Chris Jovanov, Jess Lilley, Jim Walsh and Daniel Pizzato.

Jovanov – who has previously been a creative director at AKQA and Clemenger BBDO – has taken on the digital creative director role, while Lilley and Walsh join from JWT Melbourne where they were also creative directors.

Lilley and Walsh will head up a range of brands within the agency and jointly said: “We’re happy to be joining an agency with such strong leadership and a genuine drive and enthusiasm to create brilliant work.”

Lilley added that she was personally impressed the creative department is “50% very talented women” which is “still a rarity in agency world” and demonstrated Leo Burnett’s “commitment to equality and diversity”.

Pizzato, meanwhile, has been promoted from within and will work with existing creative director Michelle Walsh to leverage his design, fashion and conceptual creative experience across major clients. He will also focus on building the global LBD [Leo Burnett Design] offering.

Pizzato has previously spent five years at Whybin/TBWA where he was one of the creatives behind ANZ’s GAYTM campaign.

“Design thinking and innovation need to drive everything we do,” he said. “So it’s exciting to be working with such a great team to expand our design footprint even further.”

Jason Williams, CCO at Leo Burnett, said the agency was excited about the four appointments.

“We’ve been building our offering as a creative solutions company in both Melbourne and Sydney for some time, and each of these four will bring fresh energy and firepower.”
