Ten tweaks 10 Boss logo after Fairfax complaint
Ten has tweaked the logo for new multi-channel, 10 Boss, after Fairfax Media complained it was too similar to the Australian Financial Review’s Boss logo, Decider TV is reporting.
Unveiled at Ten’s upfronts last week, the new brand replaced multi-channel One. Initially, the ’10 Boss’ logo had a number 10 sitting in a circle, next to the word ‘BOSS’. However, a new version of the logo has been submitted to the trademark register, with the ‘O’ in ‘BOSS’ now filled in.
According to the trademark register, both the first and second versions were submitted for approval on November 2.
Decider TV has suggested the reason for the change is due to a complaint made by Fairfax Media, which has trademarked ‘AFR BOSS’ for use across publications.
Fairfax Media is currently waiting on ACCC and shareholder approval for a merger with Nine, a commercial free to air rival of Ten.
Fairfax Media and Ten declined to comment.
Wow – already.
Not a good look for the design agency.

Amateur hour.
Another reason why CBS must make some changes at the top.
Starting point should be the CEO who has presided over cost cutting and redundancies at the Network, and all to no avail.
The network is still languishing a distant third.
Save the network, please.

Q. does the design agency have to give some of the money back for this re-do?

Because we’re highly likely to confuse the 2 entities…

That lasted long! Could they not think of a less shit solution than literally colouring in the middle of the ‘O’

Now it looks like they’re trying to copy Spotlight’s filled in “O”

Interesting that 10 even bothered listening. There wouldn’t be a specialist Trademark/Copyright lawyer on the planet that would advise Fairfax they could have won this fight in court. The more plausible explanation is that NINE was intending to spin off the Fin Review BOSS brand into a broadcast format and are pissed off as 10 have somewhat derailed those plans in the broadcast space.

The filled in O actually emphasises the focus on the letter like the AFR logo rather than differentiating the logo more obviously!
