Ten wins the night as the Bachelor picks his winner

Ten’s The Bachelor won last night’s TV ratings as 1.116m metro viewers tuned in to see Matty J crown Laura as the winner.

Despite the win, the finale was down on last season’s finale when 1.342m watched Richie Strahan chose Alex Nation as his new girlfriend.

According to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings, Matty J’s Bachelor debut was out rated by the finale as 846,000 metro viewers tuned in to watch the bachelor meet his bachelorettes.

The Bachelor’s winner announcement was the most watched program across all key advertising demographics 16-39, 18-49, 25-54 and total audience. The rest of the finale managed a metro audience of 980,000 viewers.

Competing against the finale was Nine’s RBT which attracted 652,000 viewers ahead of Seven’s 386,000 for Make You Laugh Out Loud.

With help from The Bachelor’s finale Ten managed to win Thursday night television with an overall audience share of 18.5%, beating Nine’s 17.9% and Seven’s 16.4% share.

Meanwhile ABC grabbed a 9.9% share ahead of SBS’ 5.1%.
