Ten’s new show named Studio 10 (with a little help from Go’s new star)

studio 10 logoNetwork Ten has continued to reveal plans for its new morning lineup, today revealing that its daily panel show – which comes live from Ten’s headquarters in Pyrmont – will be called Studio 10.

The show was named after a #NameThatShow contest on Twitter. The winner of the contest was comedian Darren Sanders, who has his own show just about to begin on digital channel Go, which is owned by Ten’s rival broadcaster Nine.

Studio 10 producer Rob McKnight has also given clues on the set – including the fact that it will take place in front of a live audience – in a video walkaround uploaded to YouTube.

Sanders – a comedian – wins a Samsung television and home theatre system for naming the show. He will also be invited to appear on the first episode of the show.  His chat show, which has previously appeared online, begins to air on Go in September. Reportedly there are four episodes.

McKnight – who previously worked for Nine – told Mumbrella: “I believe we chose the best name. I know he’s got a show coming up on Go, but he will still be wlecome on the first day. If Nine want to help us with ideas, good luck to them.”

When the Twitter contest launched, a number of early suggestions poked fun at the newtwork. But McKnight told Mumbrella: “There were some pisstakes, but the overwhelming majority were genuinely good. Twitter for me has been a very positive tool in this process. We did receive bad press in the beginning but we cracked on.”

Studio 10’s panellists include Ita Buttrose and journalist Joe Hildebrand, with two more to be selected after chemistry testion over the next couple of weeks. Each day’s show will feature a fifth guest panellist.

Last week, Ten unveiled details of its new breakfast show Wake Up.
