Ten’s Wake Up to launch on November 4
Ten’s new morning line up including Wake Up and Studio 10 will launch in just under three weeks’ time, on November 4.
The network made the announcement this morning.
Wake Up, which runs from 6.30am to 8.30am,will feature James Mathison, Natasha Exelby and Natarsha Belling in Manly and Nuala Hafner in Melbourne. Also on the show are roving reporter Sam Mac and Maude garrett in LA.
It will be followed each day by chat show Studio 10 featuring Sarah Harris, Joe Hildebrand, Ita Buttrose and Jessica Rowe. At 10.30am the show transitions into Studio 10 You, “a show about health, beauty and well-being”.
Both shows are the brain child of former Sunrise supremo Adam Boland. Boland, Ten’s director of morning television, will produce Wake Up while Rob McKnight is executive producer of Studio 10.
Boland, said: “I am very thankful to the team at Network Ten for meeting every challenge presented to them. Producing a show from a beach studio was no small task, but the result makes it more than worthwhile. Local news, stunning locations, engaging hosts and real conversation – we reckon we will give viewers something that is missing from breakfast television and we just can’t wait to get on air.”
Wake Up will be up against Seven’s market leader Sunrise along with Nine’s Today, while Studio 10 will face The Morning Show on Seven and Nine’s Mornings.
Also joining the morning lineup are Ten Eyewitness news Early at 5.30am presented by Matt Doran, Magdalena Roze and Scott Mackinnon and Ten Eyewitness News Morning from 11am. Roze is the sole survivor of Ten’s short-lived previous attempt in the morning timeslot, Breakfast.
When will we first hear the words “token blokes”?

Interesting choice of launch date, many Victorians will be having the Monday off before the Melbourne Cup Tuesday. Will this help or hinder the day 1 ratings??

I am still a bit worried about the name “Wake Up” as it sounds more like an instruction than a TV show.
Maybe Channel 10 could use the same theme to name some new shows throughout the rest of their schedule. Try:
– “Wake Up” at 6am
– “Lie Back Down” at 11am
– “Have a Quick Nap” at 3pm
– “Bed Time” at 10pm.
– “Go To Sleep” at midnight.

How long will it be before the first infomercial is buried into this piece of quality sounding tv? They couldn’t get “The Circle” or ANY other early morning news/entertainment show right!

We are all switching in our household from Sunrise so hope it will be good.

I think they have a great mix of every day people to host the shows.
And I am sick of the old rubbish on 7 & 9….
New faces and a new start to the day.. bring it on.

I think they may the formats backward – I expect the 9am show will perform better than Wake Up…lets wait and see.

…on first day audience size. 52,000 is my stab.

FFS, just put Jerry Springer on. That would be “deeper penetrating ” journalism and more intelligent dialogue.

I’ll definitely tune in and give it a go (after Melbourne Cup though as pointed out by @ Simon). It HAS to be markedly different from Sunrise and Today to work.
Channel 10 execs – please don’t put a muzzle on James Mathison. He has a great sense of humour!

I promise to do my bit to make it entertaining, my balcony is opposite the new studio, so if it gets boring I’ll move my morning yoga to the balcony!
