The Bachelorette collects biggest audience of season

Ten’s The Bachelorette Australia was watched by more than 1m viewers across Australia last night, winning the night and helping Ten to an average audience share win.

The show attracted its highest audience for the season with 1.019m metro viewers, was also the most watched program across the key advertising demographics – 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s.

It is the second highest audience number for a non-finale episode of The Bachelorette ever.

Competing against the reality dating show in the same time slot was RBT, which managed 550,000 metro viewers.

Seven’s Home and Away, which ran for an hour from 7pm to 8pm, collected 650,000 metro viewers.

Ten also won the later time slot, with Gogglebox capturing 777,000 metro viewers and placing second across all key ad demographics.

It beat Nine’s metro audience of 318,000 for its movie offering We’re The Millers and Seven’s movie Terminator: Genisys, which did not make the top 20.

Seven News won yet another night on the news front, beating Nine News’ 856,000 metro viewers with 918,000.

With the help of The Bachelorette and Gogglebox, Ten won the night with an average audience share of 23.5%. Meanwhile, Seven placed second at 18.2% and Nine was in third with 16.6%.

ABC’s share was 8.3% and SBS had a share of 5.1%.
