The Block dominates Sunday night television with 1.285m viewers

Nine’s The Block has topped the ratings leaderboard for Sunday night television as 1.285m metro viewers tuned in.

The home renovation series was the most-watched program in key advertising demographics 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

Airing at 7pm The Block improved slightly from last Sunday night’s audience of 1.212m. 

Seven’s Sunday Night saw 790,000 viewers tune in at the same time.

Meanwhile Ten’s Australian Surviver, which aired at 7.30pm, managed 622,000 metro viewers.

Shedding 273,000 metro viewers since its premiere last Sunday night, Seven’s Hell’s Kitchen attracted 544,000 metro viewers.

Nine won the night with an overall audience share of 25.4%, beating Seven’s 17.9% and Ten’s 10.2% share.

ABC saw a 12.2% share ahead of SBS’ 5.5%.

The 6pm news battle saw Nine News win with 1.209m metro viewers compared to Seven News’ 1.151m.

In sport, Seven’s AFL match between Hawthorn and North Melbourne saw 398,000 metro viewers watch Hawthorn’s 27-point victory.

Nine’s NRL game pulled in 302,000 viewers across Sydney and Brisbane as the Raiders defeated the Warriors.
