The Block fares better against Commonwealth Games

Nine’s big renovation reality show The Block fared better against the Commonwealth Games than it did against Glee last week, improving from 10th last week to fifth on Wednesday night.

It was also second rather than third in its timeslot, according to preliminary overnight ratings from OzTam.

The 7.30pm show averaged1.12m across its hour, virtually the same audience size as last week. It finished just behind Seven’s Border Security which rated 1.269m and The Force which rated 1.283m.

Ten’s primetime coverage of the games averaged 798,000, although that does not include those who were watching the simulcast on digital sister station One. An audience of 1.31m tuned in on Ten and One to watch Geoff Huegill take silver in the men’s 50m butterfly.

As a result of One’s 6.2% share, the multichannel audience saw another big night, with a share of just over 21% of the free TV audience for the secodnary channels.
