The Block holds steady on second outing

Nine’s The Block maintained its momentum on the second night of its new series, with an audience of 1.281m only just down on Sunday night’s 1.312m debut.

The show was third for the night on Monday, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTAM. It rose to second in the key advertising demographics of 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Nine’s talent contest The Voice topped the ratings with an audience of 1.579m. However, this was somewhat down on last Monday’s 1.962m.

Seven had fewer shows in the national top 20 because of splitting its schedule in Melbourne to accommodate St Kilda vs Carlton in the AFL. The game rated 371,000 in Melbourne, the fifth most watched program of the night in the city. In the other four capital cities the AFL ran on 7Mate where rated 174,000.

In the other four cities, Dynamo: Magician Impossible rated 559,000 for Seven while Revenge rated 550,000.

Ten’s top performer was The Biggest Loser which rated 658,000. Can Of Worms rated 238,000.

Nine’s share for the night was 26.7 per cent, ahead of Seven’s 20.5 per cent. ABC1 – which saw Australian Story average 802,000 – had a share of 14 per cent.

Meanwhile, Seven’s Sunrise (362,000) and Nine’s Today ( 344,000) had another close battle.
