The Block stays on top; Nine wins the week; The Masked Singer finale hits high note

Nine’s The Block topped entertainment on Sunday, while the network also celebrated an overall network share win.

The program aired to 981,000 metro viewers, also winning all three key advertising demos. The launch this year aired to an average metro audience of 867,000. Last year, Nine aired the 2021 premiere of the program to 747,000 metro viewers.

Meanwhile, Nine beat Seven in the week ending 27 August with a network share of 30.2% over Seven’s 26.7%, while Ten finished the week at 17.9%, followed by ABC at 17.1%.

Nine also won the primary channel share for the week, with an 18.6% share ahead of Seven’s 21%, and the top multi-channel for the week was 7mate and 7TWO, both on 3.3%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 21 August, The Block on Sunday was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.666 million viewers, including 268,000 on BVOD, and an uplift of 30%. The biggest uplift of the week was an episode of Vera on ABC with an uplift of 39% and aired to a total audience of 1.252 million.

Looking back at Sunday overnights, next in entertainment was the last 15 minutes of The Masked Singer’s final reveal on Ten, which aired to an average metro audience of 713,000, followed by Vera on ABC, which aired to an average of 597,000.

The Masked Singer Australia grand finale aired to 575,000 metro viewers.

Next up was an episode of Spicks and Specks on ABC had an average metro audience of 520,000, followed by My Kitchen Rules on Seven, which brought in 428,000 metro viewers.

In sports, Sunday’s NRL game aired to a metro audience of 209,000.

Meanwhile, As mentioned The Block won overall TV viewing on Sunday night, followed by Nine News with 921,000 metro viewers followed by Seven News with 790,000 metro viewers. ABC News brought in 579,000, and Nine’s 60 Minutes pulled in 484,000 viewers.

As mentioned, Nine won the night, taking an overall network share of 30.1% over Seven’s 27.7%, while ABC had a share of 19.5%, and Ten took a 15.9% share.

Nine also won the primary channel share, and the top-rating multi-channel on Sunday was 7Mate with a share of 4.8%.
