The Brag Media appoints former Vice staffer as head of commercial for Victoria

The Brag Media has appointed Ben Wills, a former account director at Vice, as its head of commercial for Victoria.

Based in Melbourne, Wills will work directly with agencies and brands alongside managing his own commercial team.

Wills led campaigns for Asahi, Roadshow, NAB, Peters, Converse, Vic Gov and more at Vice. Prior to his role there, Wills worked as sales and partnership manager at The Urban List.

The Brag Media’s CEO and co-founder Luke Girgis said he has been looking for a head of commercial for Victoria for some time.

“Victoria is an incredibly important state for us, some of our biggest clients are based there, and Melbourne has the most vibrant music, comedy, sport and entertainment scene in the country. We wanted to make sure we didn’t rush the hire, and took our time to find someone who both loved our brands and was an expert in ROI focused campaigns for our partners,” said Girgis.

“We are so excited to have Ben join The Brag Media, his track record at both Vice and Urban List speak for themselves, and he is an incredible energy to have around the team.”

Wills said he was delighted to be joining the music publisher.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join The Brag Media at such a wildly transformative time in the Australia media landscape. Connecting brands with The Brag Media’s audience through their portfolio of youth publications is an exciting opportunity,” said Wills.

“A huge part of my excitement stems from working for Rolling Stone Australia. Leaning heavily on its iconic heritage and featuring majority original local content makes this a powerhouse in the portfolio. It’s a dream come true to bring to life new commercial opportunities across digital, content and world-class live events for easily the most iconic global brand in music and entertainment.”

Vice made a number of redundancies across both the Australian market, but also globally, in the last few months. It also closed its local creative agency, Virtue. Two of its former staffers, Susannah Reed and Teagan Winter, recently joined Concrete Playground.
