The Sphere Agency hires Daniel Hewitt from DDB as digital director

Soon after signing former DDB Melbourne head of planning Craig Hunter as general manager, The Sphere Agency has turned to the Omnicom agency for senior digital talent.

Daniel Hewitt joins Sphere as digital director, leaving the position of technical director at DDB Melbourne. Prior to DDB, he founded online and mobile digital creative agency Rodeo Agency, which was later acquired by Aegis.

Hunter said: “We are thrilled to have Daniel on board which really boosts our solid digital credentials. He marks for us the final hire in establishing a multi-disciplined management team for the agency.”

Hewitt’s is the final appointment for Sphere’s management line-up, which includes creative director Darren Fishman, GM and strategy director Craig Hunter, media director Virginia Scully, client services director Ali Corbett and music director Dennis Dowlut. They report to MD and founder Michael Abdul.

Hewitt added: “Sphere’s positive hands-on culture, coupled with the idea of working side-by-side with planning, creative and media really made them an attractive option for me. I’m excited about the results Sphere can deliver for our clients moving forward. They are truly a unique agency and it’s great to be part of a growing team that recognizes the ever growing role digital plays in today’s communication mix.”
