The Urban List appoints Sammy Preston as Sydney editor

Former lifestyle.com.au editor Sammy Preston has taken the role of Sydney editor of The Urban List as the urban culture website builds up its commercial team with a series of appointments.

Preston, who was senior writer at lifestyle website Broadsheet before joining the Foxtel owned lifestyle.com.au, will oversee Sydney content for the millennial focused site.

“Sammy’s strong digital content skills are complemented by her thorough knowledge of Sydney’s cultural and art scene,” says Michelle Blancato, The Urban List’s Head of Content.

“Not only does she have her finger on the pulse of the city, but Sammy has expertise in creating lifestyle content making her a natural fit for us.”

Former Sydney editor, Simone Jovel, has been promoted to the role of commercial content director and will work closely with Blancato on developing the brand’s content channels.

Along with Preston’s appointment, MTV’s Emily St. John has joined The Urban List as branded content manager. St. John will manage a team across Australia and New Zealand and oversee the execution of all client campaigns.

“With fantastic social media skills and experience delivering commercial solutions, I’m thrilled Emily has chosen to join us,” says Blancato. “Emily’s digital and technical competence is going to add great value to our business and the results we deliver to clients.”

Next month will see Elise Cullen, Foxtel’s Community and Social Media Manager, also join The Urban List’s Branded Content team.
