The Voice wipes the floor with Australia’s Got Talent

the voice logoThe Nine Network has had one of its strongest nights in 2012 with the second night of The Voice and the launch of The Block.

Strengthening its performance from Sunday’s debut of 2.177m, The Voice took 2.541m across the five city metro markets, according to preliminary results from OzTam.

The musical audition show wiped the floor with the debut of rival Seven’s Australia’s Got Talent which took 1.196m across the five cities for sixth place overall.

Over one million below The Voice, but still in second place for the night was the debut of Nine’s, The Block.

The renovation show, which went out at 7pm, took 1.4m in its first airing, up on last year’s debut of 1.342m.

The 90 minute episode of The Voice also looks to have affected ratings for Seven’s Revenge, which went out at 9pm, and rated 1.1m viewers for eighth spot.

Nine took the entire winners podium with Nine News third for the night on 1.27m, followed by Seven News in fourth place with 1.255m and in fifth place A Current Affair took 1.21m.

ABC News was the public broadcaster’s highest rating show with 1.048m in ninth spot.

Ten’s The Biggest Loser was the network’s highest rating show, taking 0.825m in 11th spot.

SBS’s only appearance  in the top 50 shows was Mythbusters at 49 with 0.206m.
