This Is Mexico Set To Launch On Network 10

New content creation and distribution group Dual Entertainment today announced This is Mexico, a new six-part food and travel series that will launch on Network 10 in January 2020.

The exciting series, filmed across Mexico, is hosted by acclaimed restaurateur and television presenter Gerardo Lopez.

Tapping Australians’ ever-growing interest in Mexican food and culture, This is Mexico focuses on traditional Mexican food and culture, with Gerardo interacting with local residents and presenting simple recipes that are easily replicated at home.

The key partners of This is Mexico include La Costena and Herradura. The television series is accompanied by digital media, social media and licensing brand extensions.

Dual Entertainment Co-Founder and Managing Director, Rikki-Lee Lacco, said: “Australians love Mexican food and many Australians have an appetite to know more about Mexican food and culture. This is Mexico will inspire them to learn more about Mexico’s culinary traditions, people and history.

“We’re delighted to work with Gerardo and our partners to bring this vibrant and engaging new multi-media brand to Australians.”

Gerardo is a passionate and successful entrepreneur who founded La Tortilleria, a traditional Mexican tortilleria in Melbourne that quickly became one of the leading producers and suppliers of authentic corn tortillas to restaurants across Australia and South-East Asia.

His television credits include Food Safari, My Market Kitchen and Ben’s Menu. In 2018, he was the first Mexican-Australian to receive an Outstanding Mexican Abroad award from the Mexican government, in recognition of his contribution to raising the profile and enhancing the image of Mexico in Australia.

Gerardo explains: “I first set up La Tortilleria to bring real corn tortillas to Australia, made the traditional way, just like it is in Mexico City. That was the start of the journey! Now I want to take Australian viewers back to Mexico to tell the stories of the people who make all the culture, food and traditions happen. The stallholders making quesadillas, the ladies grilling corn and selling it on the street, right through to the top chefs in Mexico City, this is what it’s all about.

“It’s such an exciting time for Mexican food and culture in Australia and the world. I think it’s the right time for This is Mexico, it is time to bring all Mexico has to offer to the screens,” he said.

This is Mexico is the second project from Dual Entertainment, a premium content creation company set up earlier this year by experienced media professionals Darren Anderson and Rikki-Lee Lacco.

Last month Dual Entertainment launched Farm to Fork on Network 10 at 4.00pm weekdays.

Filmed around Australia and co-hosted by new MasterChef Australia judge, author and acclaimed chef, Andy Allen, along with Michael Weldon and Courtney Roulston, Farm to Fork is designed to help all Australians eat and live well by inspiring families to not only cook at home but to also understand more about the produce they are using.

Mr Anderson said: “We are very excited to be announcing This is Mexico hard on the heels of the launch of Farm to Fork.

“This is Mexico is an engaging, informative and highly entertaining series that will make Australians fall in love with Mexico, its people, its food and its culture. We can’t wait for people to see it and we’re already talking to our brand and broadcast partners about a second series.”
