This is Perth. And Everything’s All Right
The weekend saw Dr Mumbo enjoying some time in Perth, where the airwaves, and indeed the newpapers, are currently saturated with the Vote Confidence campaign.
An initiative of various agencies including, I gather, 303, Marketforce and The Brand Agency, it attempts to tell WA consumers that Everything’s All Right and the economy’s not screwed.
Perhaps a fan of the BBC’s The Day Today was behind the project, which even features the same taste in classical music:
I’m glad you told me what the point of it was. I was going to blog about how bad it was, but couldn’t work out what the hell it was about. So the agencies put their own hands in their pockets for this expensive turkey? I thought it was a State Govt feelgood campaign. Has that inept feel to it. Or has someone else been dumb enough to buy the space. Really, really bad, confusing, annoying and pointless.
Putting aside the ill chosen smiley face motif, as you might have picked up while over here, there isn’t any feeling of recession in perth anyway.
