Thrive named winner of Optus PR pitch

OptusOptus has appointed Thrive PR and Communications to manage PR and influencer activity following a competitive pitch process.

Thrive beat out incumbent agency Fuel Communications for the account which went up for pitch as part of the telco’s review of its entire agency roster. Fuel finishes up work at the end of the month.

Melissa Favero, director of corporate communications for Optus, said in a statement: “Thrive stood out throughout the pitch process for the team’s creativity, ability to execute intelligent and far-reaching campaigns, and strong media relationships.

The agency will also support Optus’ consumer and small and medium business functions.

This win allows us to continue to deliver best practice campaigns and take PR activity for Optus to new heights. We are committed to supporting Optus’ objectives and to being the number one resource to media in this country.”

Commenting on Optus’ relationship with Fuel Communications Favero said: “Optus and Fuel have had a long and successful partnership that has covered PR activity across consumer, influencer, SMB and regional. The team managed some fantastic projects and executed award-winning creative work.”

Mandy Galmes, managing director of Fuel Communications, said in a statement: “We have had a great five years working with Optus across the breadth of its business and are really proud of the innovative campaigns we have delivered during this time.”

Thrive will commence working with Optus in October.

The rest of the pitch, which will see a roster of creative agencies appointed and a media agency to handle Optus and Virgin’s spend, has yet to be resolved.
