Thursday ratings win for Nine as Gruen delivers for ABC2
It’s starting to look like Nine may actually win the week, after clocking up another narrow win in Thursday’s TV ratings.
The network took a 28.5% free to air share last night, according to preliminary TV ratings from OzTam. Seven took 26.2% and Ten 23.1%. ABC1 registered 17.8%; and SBS 5.6%.
Meanwhile, The Gruen Transfer’s repeat on ABC2 at 8.30 last night delivered an unusually strong audience for the channel of around 116,000, roughly twice that of the show on the previous week and the second largest in the channel’s history. It would appear that digitally-savvy fans of the adland show who skipped it for Wednesday night’s Socceroos game or The Farmer Wants A Wife finale, sought out the show on its repeat.
Thursday’s top rating TV shows:
-
Seven News – Seven 1.5m
-
Today Tonight – Seven 1.4m
- Getaway – Nine 1.2m
- Law and Order: SVU – Ten 1.2m
- A Current Affair – Nine 1.2m
- The Biggest Loser – Ten 1.1m
- 20 to 1 – Nine 1.1m
- Nine News – Nine 1.1m
- Home and Away – Seven 1.1m
- Two and a Half Men – Nine 1.1m
Nine now takes a 28.1% to 26.7% ratings lead into the final two nights of the ratings week.
Well, as a mad keen Aussie surfer and ad-guy, how did the The History of Australian Surfing part 2 rate on the ABC last night?
As a beach mad and now shark crazy nation I wanted to see if surf lovers out-rated ad -lovers on the Gruen Transfer?
BTW, I like the surf doco- it was well constructed. We had a viewing night with a few of my fellow surfers, we all enjoyed it.

Those percentages add up to over 100%??
And I think the ABC figure includes both ABC1 and ABC2, as Ten’s share currently includes both Ten and OneHD which might explain why Ten is performing a bit more solidly this week.
