Australian ad-free online news channel, Ticker News, has announced its first overseas outpost and reporter.

Broadcast journalist Jackson Williams has joined Ticker as an international correspondent, based in Singapore.

Until recently, Jackson has been the Sky News New Zealand correspondent in Singapore and has covered major news events for Sky and other news channels around the world during his career. He has worked across nine jurisdictions as a reporter and  recently covered the New Zealand election.

Ticker News was launched by fellow former Sky News reporter and Melbourne bureau chief Ahron Young in mid 2019.

Young said Singapore is Ticker’s first international office, with “more to be announced soon across Europe and the United States”.

“It’s great to have Jackson on board in this hugely important role for us. I couldn’t think of anyone better. This is now the third time I’ve hired Jackson, including twice at Sky,” he said.

Williams added: “I’m absolutely thrilled to join the Ticker news team as the first international correspondent, covering the Asia Pacific region.

“The attention of the world is on Asia right now and the changing geopolitical situation. I can’t wait to be right in the middle of it, reporting the news to Ticker’s audience around the world.”

Ticker’s Singapore office is located in the city-state’s financial district, providing interviews with newsmakers and analysis from across the Asia-Pacific region.
