TMP: We’re so certain of winning awards we’re auctioning last year’s trophy
Specialist recruitment ad agency TMP Worldwide is certainly never going to be accused of under confidence when it comes to winning awards.
TMP is shortlisted in seven categories of next Friday’s FEMAs (the Fairfax Employments Marketing Awards). So the agency is auctioning one of its trophies from last year on eBay “to make room for this year’s bumper crop”.
In the Ebay posting the agency says:
“Due to overcrowding in our awards cabinet, we’re selling a mint condition FEMA trophy to make room for this year’s bumper crop. And with 17 finalists spread across every category we entered in this year’s awards, we’re a motivated seller.
“Pride of place in any boardroom, foyer, or office, the FEMA trophy’s sweeping glacial cone and tilted Fairfax signature plate make for a timeless viewing experience. Owning a FEMA trophy is a mark of distinction. It’ll set you apart by making an enviable statement of prestige and supremacy.
“It’s a feature no organisation can do without and it’s available to bid or buy now. Nothing compares to the feeling of picking up a FEMA trophy and holding its weight in your hand. Nothing except standing on stage at the Fairfax Employment Marketing Awards in front of the industry’s biggest players and soaking up the adulation while the whole room buzzes about you.”
The event takes place in Melbourne next Friday. Dr Mumbo suspects that TMP may be right about the room buzzing. Possibly with hatred though.
Yes, Fairfax, this is what TMP think of your awards. Flog it off a year after winning.
I’m assuming the eBay ad is tongue in cheek, right…?

I wonder how the client, ASIO, feels about their agency selling off their Best Art Direction trophy?

Brilliant. Seems like a bit of fun to me.

Looks like it has a few people talking. Just quietly, I’d say that was the idea.
