Today launches Wake Up spoiler 20 car giveaway
Nine is to launch a promotional blitz in a bid to dissuade viewers from sampling the first few days of Ten’s new shows Wake Up and Studio 10.
The network’s breakfast show Today and mid-morning show Mornings will give away what the network claims is “the biggest ever” giveaway from the two shows. Prizes – which Nine says are worth $750,000 – include 20 Chrysler cars
The promotion begins on November 4, the day that Channel Ten will broadcast its first episode of Wake Up. Wake Up stars James Mathison, Natasha Exelby and Natarsha Belling in Manly, and Nuala Hafner in Melbourne.
It will be followed by chat show Studio 10 featuring Sarah Harris, Joe Hildebrand, Ita Buttrose and Jessica Rowe until 10.30am.
The new line up created by Ten’s director of morning television Adam Boland enters a competitive ratings race between his former home of Sunrise and The Morning Show on Seven, and Today and Mornings on Channel Nine.
Sunrise replaced its presenter Melissa Doyle with Samantha Armytage in August, resulting in a positive ratings performance that saw the show widen its lead over Today.
Innocent until proven guilty should apply here but the underwhelming Channel Ten promo suggests it’s just FM radio with pictures. it’s a wonder its not called the breakfast club!

The trouble with Today (as I have emailed them) is that it is just too conservative, too boring, too safe – albeit with nice Hosts.
Lisa seems to me to be holding back, playing a “nice” part. I bet she has a wicked tongue when she gets mad.
Georgie G is a very funny person when she lets herself be, plus she has a naughty streak I wish they’d let out.
Karl is a tryer. No great brain, he means well but gets caught up with his fear of the unusual. the straight man’s straight man.
All those earnest guests in the buzz or whatever it is. All discussing whatever topic with predictable views (G Killeen excepted).
Not a single bloke with any style outside the metrosexual mold.
All the women dressed smartly in similar outfits, with matching hair.
All nice. All attractive. All reading the autocue diligently and well.
I love it when they talk about technology or modern life. Like the HMV dog, head cocked to one side, tryiing to listen and fathom what’s being heard. Huh? Wha?
It’s like porridge in the morning – nice, sweet, predictable, no surprises. Been that way for yonks.
But, just occasionally, don’t we hanker for something… you know, something ELSE?
The really pitiful thing is that we don’t know WHATwe hanker for. Morning TV has finally done that to us.
