Radio ratings: Today Network sees falls in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, while competitor widens gap in Brisbane

today network logoThe troubled Today Network has suffered a new blow with disappointing ratings results in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.

Today’s publication of radio ratings from Nielsen – covering the period of September 16 to October 20 and October 28 to December 1 – will add to the pressure on the network which is already in crisis over the death of a British nurse who was involved in a prank call.

In Sydney, 2Day FM lost 0.7 share points, dropping to an 8.4% share of the Monday to Sunday audience. Although 2Day FM remained the top station, Nova is now just 1.1 share points behind. The Kyle & Jackie O show lost more share than any other show in any timeslot in Sydney with a fall from 12.1% to 10.3% audience share, a drop of 1.8 share points.

In Adelaide, Today Network’s SAFM saw a drop of 1.6 share points, the biggest Monday to Sunday fall for any station in the city. In the commercial FM battle, it fell from third to fourth.

In Brisbane, the Today Network’s B105 saw its competitor 97.3, which it had been vying with for second place, leap ahead in Monday to Sunday share. Despite B105 increasing its audience by 0.6 percentage points, 97.3 put on 2.9 points, propelling it into first place. B105 went from a 10.4% share to 11%. 97.3 went up from 10.6% to 13.5%. Nova fell 1.2 points, to 13.1%, leaving B105 in third.

In Melbourne, the Today Network’s Fox FM dropped 0.8 ratings points but retains top FM commercial slot, falling from a 10.3% to 9.5% share of the Monday to Sunday audience.
