Todd Sampson: international man of chivalry
Leo Burnett boss and conscience of The Gruen Transfer Todd Sampson’s star is set to rise even higher, Dr Mumbo is delighted to note.
Sampson is one of four on the shortlist for Chivas Regal’s Man of Chivalry Award, which is being presented as part of this year’s GQ Man of the Year Awards.
According to the citation, the nomination comes for his contribution to the creation of Earth Hour.
Sampson finds himself competing with fellow TV personality Larry Emdur from Seven’s The Morning Show who is shortlisted along with the rest of the crew of the Loyal Foundation Yacht which took part in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race to raise funds for charity.
Also in the running are surgeon Don Esmore and St Kilda Football Club sports psychologist Sean Richardson.
Somewhat harshly, in the organisers’ announcement they say that Sampson is 44. Dr Mumbo has it on good authority that he is in fact 40.
The winner is announced on November 30.
Todd Sampson is a genius; well deserved nomination. Mr. Todd hope you win!

Is Todd really that awsome? To describe him as the conscience of the Gruen Transfer is not much of a compliment, given Gruen has morphed into a marshmallow soft puff piece where advertising peeps (like Todd himself of course) bask in their own cleverness.
To find he is now receiving an award from a mildly overpriced scotch confirms my opinion of him as someone deserving to be in the company of people like, well, Larry Emdur.

er..what a unique group they are. Todd sure gets a long drink from Earth Hour, what a great personal PR idea it was. I just wish to god he’d stop wearing cutesy t-shirts. There comes a time when a heterosexual man must accept the fashion dicates of his demographic.
