Triple J names new breakfast team for 2017
Just a day after popular Triple J breakfasts hosts Matt Okine and Alex Dyson announced they were leaving, the ABC radio station has revealed Adelaide radio presenters Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton and journalist Brooke Boney will take over the show next year.
Announcing a slew of new voices which will be heard on the station next year, Triple J said the broadcast day would be anchored by Harvey and Stapleton, who would also be joined by regular guests including Australian Paralympian of the year Dylan Alcott and comedian Gen Fricker.
Triple J content director Ollie Wards said the new breakfast team were worthy replacements for the outgoing duo. “Ben & Liam crack me up,” Wards said.
“They’re 23 and 20 but come to the radio with thousands of hours on air together and crazy amounts of fun ideas. They’ll be part of a broad new team, including an expanded News role with Brooke Boney, our voice of youth current affairs in the mornings.“
Lunch host Lewis McKirdy is leaving the show after six years and Fricker, who hosted Weekend Arvos, will take over the daytime slot.
Another host finishing up is Sarah Howell who is leaving Roots N All, with Nkechi Anele moving to host the show.
Triple J, the national “youth” radio broadcaster with a 52 year old Music Director in Richard Kingsmill who’s been in charge since 2003. Has his taxpayer funded contract ever been reviewed?

Hi David,
You’re right, changed now.
Cheers,

Are you SERIOUSLY saying that because Kingsmill is 50+ he it not suitable for the job?
He’s forgotten more about music – of all genres – than you will ever know.
FFS Chuck Berry (Google him … apparently he had some impact on music) is turning 90 and about to record his next album. B.B. King was 89 and still a great musician when he died last year. Bowie was 69 when he died this year and released the amazing Black Star album. Les Paul (yeah Google him as well) was 94 when he died several years ago and was still gigging at the Iridium Club.
I look forward to your next addition to your body of work ADHD.

This is a very valid point, and I have to agree with ADHD !! Perhaps its time for a complete ‘shake up’ New blood injection for national “youth radio”

Turn it up Wolfgang…… the music on Triple J has progressively been getting worse and basically fallen off a cliff the last couple of years.
Kingsmill has lost it.

No way! Kingsmill is a legend, we are lucky to have him as I am sure he could be somewhere else making a hell of lot more cash. Long live the King.
