An international version of UK show Saturday Kitchen will appear on Australian TV next month in a deal brokered between Flame Media and Cactus TV.

The announcement:

Flame Media is delighted to announce that it will be bringing an international version of the hit UK show Saturday Kitchen to Australia and the rest of the world.

In a deal brokered with leading UK production company Cactus TV Flame will condense the 90 minute format into a one hour programme. In Australia, the initial (20 x 1 hour) series will premiere on Foxtel’s LifeStyle FOOD channel on Saturday, September 5 at 9am (encore screenings at 5pm and 10.30pm).

Cactus TV has produced Britain’s favourite cooking show since 2006. Presented by TV chef, James Martin, Saturday Kitchen is now well into its 10 year. Broadcast live from Cactus Studios in London every Saturday morning, it features amazing food cooked by some of the world’s greatest chefs, as well as entertaining chat with some of TV’s favourite personalities.

This lively format regularly delivers close to 3 million viewers for BBC One on a Saturday morning, and the show’s “omelette challenge” – where guest chefs are challenged to cook a three-egg omelette as quickly as possible – has become a cult hit.

Lyndey Milan, Creative Director – Flame Media, food & wine personality and recent guest on Saturday Kitchen comments.‘Having been involved personally with a broadcast in January, I can attest to the fact that it’s an incredibly professionally produced show with the added dynamism and excitement of a live format. You never quite know what might happen. No wonder it has such a committed following”.

Amanda Ross, Managing Director – Cactus TV adds, ‘It’s wonderful to think our show has the chance to reach a wider international audience. We have such fun making it, and fun is a universal feeling. I’m really excited to be able to share our love of food with so many more foodies worldwide.’

Guest stars in the first episode include: Actor Ed Speelers, who plays ‘Jimmy Kent’ in the British period drama series Downton Abbey, and celebrity chefs Luke Matthews and Olia Hercules. The series also includes a special episode featuring top chef, Rick Stein, who steps in to guest host the weekly show.
