TV Wrap: Matildas’ last ride in 2023 Women’s World Cup brings in 3.4m national viewers
2.14 million metro viewers came along for one last ride with the Matildas in this Women’s World Cup, as the team faced Sweden on Saturday night. A day later, the final between England and Spain also brought in 2 million on metro free-to-air.
Australia had a heartbreaking loss to Sweden and was placed fourth in this Women’s World Cup – still the best record for a national football team.
According to VOZ total TV report, 889,000 regional viewers and 401,000 national BVOD viewers tuned in to the third-place playoff, bringing the total TV viewership of the Saturday night game to 3.424 million.
Spain scored its first Women’s World Cup victory against England on Sunday night. Following the actual match, 1.397 million metro viewers tuned in for the post-game.
The Block on Sunday brought in 778,000 metro viewers for Nine.
In the week ended 19 August, Seven dominated the overall network ratings with 45.2%, followed by Nine, with only 22.2% in weekly share.
