TVS appoints chairman, CEO

Mitchell Communications Group’s Harold Mitchell has been appointed chairman of Sydney community TV station TVS; University of Western Sydney lecturer and associate head of the communication arts school Rachel Bentley will be the new CEO.

“TVS has the potential to become the hub of Sydney’s creative talent, and I will be using my experience in training and guiding video producers and presenters to help build a new brand of television that isn’t being broadcast on the free to air stations,” said Bentley.

Bentley is the executive producer of TVS pograms Histrionics and Dare I Ask (co-produced with metro Screen), and believes these shows represent “the growing professionalism of community TV”‘.

TVS is “pursuing a fresh engagement with aspiring TV producers and presenters” from across the Sydney community and, according to Bently, it is a space for risky television.
