Uber Australia’s head of communications Katie Curran moves to Amazon

The former head of communications at Uber Australia and New Zealand, Katie Curran, has taken up a new role as Amazon Australia’s head of communications.

The appointment comes after US ecommerce giant Amazon officially opened its Australian operation today.

Amazon’s delivery offering is now live in Australia

Curran joined Uber in 2014 as its head of communications from her previous role at n2n Communications as its head of strategy.

During her career she has also spent time at agencies including Eli Lily, Pulse Communications and Ogilvy PR.

Mumbrella understands, Weber Shandwick is the global PR agency assigned to Amazon’s PR account.

Uber is currently advertising the role on LinkedIn outlining the successful candidate will assist in “establishing Uber’s brand and profile with the media and third parties”.

Earlier in the week, Uber alleged 13CABS of tampering a driver receipt to discredit the US company in a social media campaign.

Uber declined to comment but confirmed the departure while Amazon had not responded to Mumbrella at the time of publishing.
