UM win William Hill $40m media account, Clems Sydney takes creative

William HillUM has has won a face-off with Mediacom for the lucrative media account for bookmaker William Hill, estimated to be worth close to $40m.

In the wake of the recent purchase of online betting agency Tom Waterhouse the UK company is consolidating its media and creative across its Sportingbet, Centrebet and Tom Waterhouse brands.

Going forward it is understood UM will handle media for the company, while creative will be handled by Clemenger BBDO Sydney.

UM was the incumbent on the Sportingbet and Centrebet accounts, thought to be worth between $10-20m, having picked up the accounts from Slingshot last year, while MediaCom has held the $20m Tom Waterhouse business since the website’s launch.

Waterhouse’s expenditure is thought to have reduced significantly in recent times, following controversy around the brand’s involvement in sports such as NRL. The company is also reportedly looking to consolidate some of its brands, which may occur in the new year.

UM declined to comment while Clemenger Sydney could not be reached at the time of posting.
