Unilever marketing chief Peter Boone set for Mumbrella360 keynote

peter_boone_unileverPeter Boone, the newly arrived Chief Marketing Officer of Unilever Australasia, has been announced as the keynote guest to open the second day of next month’s Mumbrella360 conference.

Boone – a 15 year veteran with Unilever in markets across the world – was appointed to the role late last year after three years as the company’s global vice president of brand development, based in the Netherlands. Before that he was Unilever’s vice president of marketing and sales for Latin America. He began his career with Unilever in 1995.

His appearance at Mumbrella360 will see him interviewed on stage by Mumbrella editor Tim Burrowes in one of his first industry appearances since arriving in Australia.

unileverUnilever is one of the world’s most influential advertisers with brands including Dove, Streets, Flora, Lynx, Vaseline, Bertolli, Sunsilk, Omo, Rexona and Lipton. It is among the ten biggest spending companies in Australia with an annual media spend estimated by Nielsen at $80m.

The months since Boone’s arrival in Australia have been characterised by a series of big moves by the company.

In one of the biggest media moves of the year, Mindshare won Unilever’s media account in February, narrowly beating PHD and Initiative.

And earlier this month the company bolstered its digital marketing capabilities, adding Holler to its roster with Deepend and Soap.

Mumbrella360 takes place at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney on June 7 and 8.

The keynote speech on the first day sees a rare speech from Richard Freudenstein, CEO of The Australian and News Digital Media.

The other major keynote session comes at the end of the conference with Mumbrella Question Time featuring Group M chairman John Steedman, outgoing NineMSN CEO Joe Pollard, Communications Council and Host CEO Anthony Freedman and Telstra’s Chief Marketing Officer Mark Buckman.

The full conference program – and tickets – are available on the Mumbrella360 website.
