Unilever’s Jif launches first Australian ad in 19 years with aim to end BBQ neglect

Unilever cleaning product Jif, has launched its first Australian ad in 19 years with the aim of repositioning the brand in the Australian market and appealing to younger audiences.

Jif campaign

Created by Zoo Group Sydney, the tongue-in-cheek campaign features a man walking through people’s backyards and being horrified by the state of their barbecues.

The ad, which aims to target young Australians, runs with the tagline ‘Don’t leave it, Jif it’, which urges consumers to put a stop to BBQ neglect by saving products with Jif, with just one squirt.

Paul Bruce, executive creative director and partner at Zoo Group Sydney, said the campaign aimed to move away from the “traditional spin” of Jif as a household cleaning product.

“We are excited about the campaign created with Zoo Group Sydney, and, with their creativity, the possibility of ending BBQ neglect across Australia,” said Paul Connell, homecare director at Unilever ANZ.

“It’s already gaining traction and a great response from audiences that wouldn’t normally engage in the category and we’re looking forward to celebrating together on Australia Day on a shiny Bronte BBQ.”

The campaign launches this month and will run across broadcast, digital and social media platforms.
