Ad and content funded mobile platform Unlockd has appointed Aliza Knox as the company’s chief creative officer.

The announcement:

Market leading ad and content funded mobile platform, Unlockd, today announced the appointment of Aliza Knox as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Knox, formerly APAC Vice President at Twitter, will start on 12th April and oversee international expansion and global operations, utilising her vast experience and network to drive value and growth.

Knox, who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area, will leverage her long history in Asia Pacific, particularly Singapore, a known hub for growth companies in Asia, to expand the Unlockd business. She will report to CEO & Co-Founder Matt Berriman and work closely with the rest of the executive team to further cement the Unlockd business as global industry-leading mobile platform.

Unlockd rewards consumers with value like discounts off mobile phone bills, free additional data or premium entertainment content in exchange for viewing targeted ads and content when unlocking their smartphone, in turn creating value from moments spent on digital devices.

After only a year in market, Unlockd has already given back nearly $10 million in Unlockd value to consumers, which is aligned with its mission to return $500 million to the community by 2025.

At Twitter, Knox built and led Twitter’s APAC sales teams and self-serve advertising business, launched and ran the Asia Headquarters and provided oversight for part of the LATAM operations. She previously held senior executive sales and operational roles at Google and VISA.

“Aliza has an amazing track record of business growth and accomplishments regionally and globally. The team and I are excited about her joining as we expand our business into other verticals like content streaming and geographies including Asia,” said Matt Berriman, CEO and co-founder of Unlockd. “Her wealth of experience and strong relationships will be an enormous asset as we accelerate growth towards our 2025 mission to give back $500m in Unlockd value to our consumers.”

“I have always been drawn to businesses with a strong entrepreneurial spirit that are creating value for consumers in unique ways. What is especially appealing about

Unlockd is its revolutionary business model where each party in the ecosystem wins, combined with visionary leadership and a strong sense of purpose,” said Knox. Given Unlockd’s strong growth pipeline in emerging markets like Asia Pacific, I am confident my skill set will add a lot of value to the business and equally, working in this role will be a rewarding experience for me.”

Knox serves on the boards of Scentre Group (owner of Westfield ANZ) and Singapore postal service and e-commerce company, SingPost. She is also an advisor to the ANZ Bank Board’s Technology Committee, led SWAT (Super Women at Twitter) and did the same for Women@Google in Asia. Knox is an active participant in Women Corporate Directors, Chief Executive Women in Australia, a champion for Board Agender in Singapore, and was named the AWA Singapore International Business Woman of the Year in 2015.

This appointment shortly follows Unlockd’s recent executive team additions of Jonathan ‘JC’ Oliver who joined as Global Chief Creative Officer to lead the company’s strategic creative direction and Matt Von der Muhll moved into the role of Chief Revenue Officer to oversee all commercial aspects of the business with respect to revenue generation, both based out of London.

With Knox’s appointment, Unlockd’s current executive leadership team comprises Matt Berriman (CEO), Aliza Knox (COO), Jane Martino (SVP Strategy), Ashley Conn (CFO), Matt Von der Muhll (CRO), Craig Rees (CPO), James Bayes (SVP Biz Dev – Unlockd Stream) and Tony Saigh (SVP, Biz Dev – Unlockd Connect).
