Unruly appoints David Haddad as ANZ managing director

Unruly – the video advertising platform News Corp sold to Tremor International earlier this year – has named David Haddad as its managing director across Australia and New Zealand.

The former CEO of IPG Mediabrands Singapore and general manager of UM Sydney replaces Ricky Chanana, who became ANZ head of sales at Twitch in April.

Haddad will be based in the Sydney office, and responsible for driving growth across both the Australian and New Zealand markets, working closely with News Corp, which remains a strategic partner despite offloading the company.

Haddad joins after almost four years at IPG Mediabrands in Singapore

“The Australian and New Zealand markets are key growth territories for us, so having David’s incredible leadership skills, vast knowledge and industry know-how will be crucial as we continue to roll out our exciting all-screen capabilities to our clients,” said group managing director, international, Alex Khan, to whom Haddad will report.

“Since being acquired by Tremor International at the start of the year, Unruly has transformed from an outstream video specialist to become one of the largest independent multi-screen ad platforms in the world, offering our clients and publishers a host of exciting new formats across CTV, desktop and mobile, unique audiences, self-service tools and supersized supply.

“Armed with such a powerful proposition in market, having someone of David’s experience and talent will be a key driver in us hitting our ambitious business goals for the region.”

In addition to his time in charge of IPG Mediabrands’ agencies in Singapore and a six year stretch at UM, Haddad has also worked for Mediacom and Bellamy Hayden. He left IPG Mediabrands in April.

“I’m delighted to be joining Unruly, one of the most well-known, innovative companies in the global video adverting ecosystem,” he said of his new role.

“Bolstered by Tremor’s enhanced capabilities, I’m excited to unleash Unruly’s multi-screen, market-leading proposition across Australia and New Zealand. Every dollar invested in creative and media must be data-driven, and that’s where Unruly stands out. I’m really honoured to be joining the team and can’t wait to start working with the many incredibly talented people within the business.”

Haddad will establish a close relationship with News Corp’s leadership team, including managing director of national sales, Lou Barrett, who added: “Our relationship with Unruly has never been stronger and we’re over the moon David is joining at such an exciting time, where Unruly is delivering on the exciting promise of multi-screen, premium video, underpinned by our market-leading data platform News Connect and the Unruly EQ+ data offering.”
