The Royals hires former Special Group creative duo Nick Cole and Pat Allenby

The Royals has added creative duo Nick Cole and Pat Allenby to its team following a shake-up of its creative ranks.

Last week it was announced that the agency’s co-founder and creative partner, Nick Cummins, would be departing the agency this month. Stu Turner and Sebastian Vizor, who were both hired last year, have taken on the creative leadership of the agency. Vizor has been promoted from deputy ECD to executive creative director in Sydney.

Cole and Allenby will be based in the Sydney office and have joined after a two-year stint at Special Group, where they worked on the Uber Eats ‘Australian Open Ambush’ campaign.

The pair first worked together at Y&R between 2016 and 2018.

At The Royals, Cole’s official title will be senior copywriter and Allenby will be senior art director.

Vizor said Cole and Allenby were some of Australia’s most talented creatives.

Their work inherently captures culture, which has created work that people actually want to watch and engage in, so they’ll be a great fit for each of our clients’ businesses, from Coopers all the way to Coates Hire,” he said.

Cole said he was “absolutely stoked to be joining The Royals.”

“Not only are they all super talented, they’re a really lovely group of people as well. We’re really keen to help keep building the momentum here and make some solid work along the way,” he said.

Allenby added: “The Royals have all of the things we like to be surrounded by – nice people, hungry clients, inspiring leadership and a few beers in the fridge. We’re very excited to join the team and give it our all.”

Last week, The Royals were appointed masterbrand strategy and creative agency for Coopers Brewery.
