Unruly’s managing director Lance Traore departs

Lance Traore, the managing director of Unruly across Australia and New Zealand, has left the company after running the local operation for the past two years.

Lance Traore

Traore joined Unruly in 2011 to establish the Nordics business and then relocated from Stockholm to Sydney to set up the ANZ office in April 2015.

As MD, Traore had responsibility for sales, operations and business development in the region.

Shortly after his local appointment, News Corp announced it had bought the UK-based company, which was founded in 2006, for $125m.

Phil Townend, Unruly’s chief commercial Officer, APAC said: “I would like to personally thank Lance for the significant contribution he has made to Unruly’s international growth over the past six years, having worked for me both in Europe and in APAC. He has done a brilliant job of helping launch Unruly into the Australian market.

“Unruly now reaches the next exciting phase of our development into the key video platform delivering video ads around brand safe, professionally generated content (PGC) environments such as News AU and our wider publisher ecosystem.”

Commenting on his departure, Traore said: “It’s been an epic once-in-a-lifetime journey at Unruly since 2011, and I’m especially proud of the brand awareness that the Unruly ANZ team has built as well as the international revenue growth delivered.

“I’m grateful to the founders of Unruly, the APAC CCO Phil Townend, and the News AU team for all their support. The time has come for me to pass on the baton for the next exciting phase in Unruly’s growth in the region.”

Traore has confirmed he is leaving to pursue new opportunities, and Unruly is seeking a new MD for the team.
