Urban List appoints new head of sales

Urban List has appointed a new head of sales to help drive the lifestyle publisher’s ambitious growth plans in 2025.

Spyros Asteriou takes on the role with a decade of experience in media sales, including Pedestrian Group where he was most recently NSW head of partnerships, JCDecaux, and Kasa Create Marketing.

During his time at Pedestrian, he was part of the team to launch Pedestrian Television, Australia’s first youth-focused BVOD channel on 9Now.

In his new role, Asteriou will report to chief commercial officer, Jacqui La’Brooy, and will use his network of industry relationships to help grow Urban List as a go-to partner for brands.

“Spyros is a trailblazer, celebrated for his strategic vision, unparalleled ability to build relationships, and deliver exceptional results,” La’Brooy commented.

“Having had the privilege of mentoring Spyros earlier in his career, I’ve admired his growth and leadership from afar and have long wanted to work with him again.

“His appointment reinforces our commitment to being the go-to partner for brands looking to authentically connect with culture-driven audiences.”

Asteriou said he’s long admired Urban List and its ability to shape how people connect with one another and build culture.

“Joining a brand with such a rich legacy of influence is truly exciting,” he said.

“I look forward to collaborating with the talented team to deepen partnerships, unlock new opportunities, and deliver market-leading work that connects brands with a high valued audience.”

Urban List’s growth journey begun taking shape last year, with the expansion into Hong Kong, building on its APAC footprint. As part of an exclusive partnership with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the publisher has showcased cultural experiences and diverse neighbourhoods in the region.

In November, the lifestyle publisher also welcomed a new head of content in former Gizmodo Media Group executive managing editor Alex Dickinson. He has been described as “the perfect fit” to lead content, supporting Urban List’s wider growth plans.

It also appointed a new chief executive officer, Ben Naperstek, less than six months ago,

Naparstek reports to Urban List’s founder and former chief executive, Susannah George, who led the business since its inception in 2011. She remains involved in the business in a strategic capacity.
