Urzila Carlson to replace Lindsay Lohan on The Masked Singer Australia due to COVID-19 restrictions

The Masked Singer Australia will have a new judging lineup for its second season with international panellist Lindsay Lohan unable to join the group in 2020 due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Instead, Lohan will be replaced by New Zealand-based comedian, and regular Have You Been Paying Attention? guest Urzila Carlson.

Carlson joins Jackie O, Dave Hughes and Dannii Minogue on the panel for the second season of the masked guessing game which proved to be a breakout star for Ten in 2019.

The Masked Singer Australia host Osher Günsberg said Carlson was a natural addition to the team.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Urzila into the bonkers world of The Masked Singer Australia. She is an absolute crack up, and will fit right in as the panel tries to guess who is who,” he said.

Carlson said she was excited to join in, but had some concerns about her ability to replace Lohan.

“Being on The Masked Singer Australia is very exciting – it’s not something I thought I would ever do, but when I got the call to say ‘Lindsay can’t make it because of Cyrus The Virus, could you step in?’, I immediately said yes,” said Carlson.

“I’m pumped to do the show, but I’m also upset that Lindsay can’t be the other panellist. But for anyone who is at home and angry, think about this – I have to wear her wardrobe because they’ve already spent the money, so they are just putting in a few clips for me. Spare a thought for me, and tune in just for that, and the amazing talent under the masks!”

Ten has already begun releasing clues for three of its characters – The Frillneck, The Dragonfly and The Echidna, although in 2019 Ten teased the competition would be tougher for season two after a lot of the identities were guessed early on in season one.
