Val Morgan names Guy Burbidge MD of cinema as Tristan Wyse departs

Val Morgan Group has named Quantcast’s Guy Burbidge as the new managing director of Val Morgan cinema advertising, following the departure of Tristan Wyse on Friday.

Burbidge has spent the last two years at Quantcast as sales director, as well as previously spent five years as commercial director of Inception Digital. He will commence his role on January 14.

He replaces Wyse, who was promoted to the position of managing director in July this year, from his role as national sales director.

Wyse: Departed on Friday

In a LinkedIn post on Friday, Wyse thanked his team, client partners and friends.

“After almost 12 years it’s time to pursue new challenges in a new home city (Melbourne!), and hand the baton over to someone else (Guy Burbidge). Incredibly proud of the achievements I’ve been part of at Val,” Wyse said.

“From humble cinema sales house to one of the most regarded and credentialed media businesses in the land. To all my past and present colleagues, you’ve made the business the success it is today through great thinking, serious hard work and an unadulterated passion for the industry. An amazing team – long may the good times continue.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure and wouldn’t have been possible without you all. Hopefully I’ll get to work with many of you again in the future. Until then, wishing everyone a Merry Xmas and happy, prosperous New Year!”

Dan Hill, CEO of Val Morgan Group, said Burbidge has “excellent credentials and experience.”

Burbidge will join the Val Morgan team in January

“He is very well liked and respected in the industry and we’re delighted he has decided to join us at Val Morgan,” Hill added.

Burbidge said it was a good time to be working in cinema.

“Personally, it will offer me a new challenge and for the team, I believe I can bring skills and knowledge that will continue to grow this already very successful organisation,” Burbidge said.
