Vaughan Cottier appointed general manager sales at The Australian

The Australian chief executive Nicholas Gray has promoted Vaughan Cottier to the role of general manager of sales, replacing Rachel Savio who has been promoted to the role of general manager local sales strategy – metro and regional publishing.

Vaughn CottierCottier has been the deputy GM of sales for The Australian, Business Spectator, Eureka Report and The Wall Street Journal for the last two years.

Gray said in a statement: “I am delighted to appoint Vaughan to this role. Vaughan has exceptional leadership and sales skills, and has been pivotal to The Australian delivering great campaigns for our customers and growing our advertising share over the past few years. His passion and experience in the industry make him the perfect person to spearhead Australia’s largest premium national and business multi-platform portfolio.”

Cottier joined The Australian in 2013 from Fairfax Media where he had spent 12 years across a variety of media sales roles most recently the national group sales manager – finance media and Financial Review Group magazines.

Cottier said in a statement: “I’m really looking forward to working directly with Nicholas and the leadership team to continue the strategic and commercial growth that we have seen in the last two years.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time for The Australian and within News Corp as a whole and I hope to continue the work Rachel has done in leading our PANPA award winning sales team.”

Mr Cottier will report to Gray and will commence his role on March 29 while Savio will report to Damian Eales, managing director – metro and regional publishing.
