VaynerMedia appoints new APAC lead, Australia to continue to report in

VaynerMedia’s Asia Pacific operations has promoted Tim Lindley to managing director, based out of Singapore, which includes responsibility for the new Australian operations.

Lindley joined VaynerMedia as head of insights and strategy in December 2020 and is replacing Avery Akkieni.

VaynerMedia established its APAC office two years ago. Locally, Mumbrella revealed it was opening its Australian office last month.  The Australian arm is run by Amy Bradshaw, with the Australian business reporting into the APAC head, now Lindley. Speaking to Mumbrella at the time of the launch, Bradshaw said the local business would lean on the APAC and the global business at times as well.

VaynerMedia is owned by Gary Vaynerchuk, also known on social media as Gary Vee.

On the appointment, Vaynerchuk said: “Since opening up our doors in Singapore two years ago, VaynerMedia has grown exponentially in the APAC region. Tim has been an integral part of that growth over the last seven months. He has a deep understanding of our integrated model of creative and media and has also demonstrated great leadership qualities, so it seemed natural for him to take over the role of managing director. I look forward to working closely with Tim to continue to drive growth in the region.”

Lindley said on his new role: “I haven’t felt this energised and on the pulse of culture since I joined Red Bull many years ago. I am so proud of what this team has achieved in a short period of time. Together, we are thrilled about the next phase of learning, growth, and the culture-defining work that we are creating in partnership with our wonderful client.”

Lindley is taking over the role from Akkineni. Mumbrella understands that Akkineni will be returning to the US for a new role within VaynerX, which is yet to be announced.

On Akkineni, Vaynerchuk said: “I am so thankful to Avery for building VaynerMedia APAC into a successful and thriving operation in such a short period of time. With a stellar APAC leadership team in place, I look forward to working with her on an exciting new opportunity.”

Lindley will commence his role on 1 July.
