VB’s hilarious clapback at ‘bitter’ English cricket team

One of Australia’s most iconic beers has created a cheeky special edition for the English cricket team following the Ashes second-test controversy.

Calling it ‘England Bitter’, Carlton & United Breweries produced the new version following English coach Brendon McCullum’s refusal to have a beer with the Aussies.

VB marketing manager, Marc Lord, said: “We know the English are bitter about the lord’s test, but when they’re feeling less bitter we’ve got a beer to shout them…Our fresh new ‘England Bitter’.”

Warm slabs have also been shipped to the UK overnight, addressed to the English cricket team, in what VB calls a ‘”great tradition of banter between our two great cricketing nations”.

“‘England Bitter’ has got their name on it and we’re sending a few slabs to the English cricket team to enjoy once they’ve cooled off,” said Lord.

“We raise our glass to the whole Australian team for securing a famous win in the second test, and wish them the best of luck in winning the series.”

The brand has also taken out full-page ads in major Australian newspapers this morning, and will soon release a reworked version of its iconic jingle. Free ‘England Bitter’ t-shirts will also be handed out to Aussies Fans at Headingley Cricket Ground ahead of the third test, which starts tonight 8pm AEST.
