McCann Melbourne is behind a campaign for a Victorian government-backed foundation to curb problem gambling.

The campaign for the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation centres on the website fightforyou.com.au, which features video diaries of people trying to control their gambling habits in an online support service called the 100 Day Challenge.

The challenge aims to help gambling addicts “fight for the real you” and features four Victorians – including former Melbourne Demons AFL footballer Daniel Ward.

The ECD of McCann John Mescall said in a statement: “This is a really important campaign for a lot of reasons. People struggling to fight their gambling problems need to know they’re not alone, but more than that they need to know that there are effective support mechanisms to help them every step of the way. This campaign is quite unique in that it not only informs, it also provides very real support through the online tools we’ve created.”

McCann won the business after a competitive pitch in January.

The campaign was launched in Melbourne today by Victorian Premier Dennis Napthine and Minister for Gaming Regulation Andrew McIntosh.
