Victorian Government launches new COVID testing campaign as lockdowns continue

The Victorian Government has launched a campaign in the hopes of encouraging a testing boost, following rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in the state.

The campaign stresses the need to get a test, citing the similarities between a cold and the virus, which has seen more than half of the country return to lockdowns in the past two months.

The campaign slogan “only a test can tell” is not new, however the new 30 second TVC will be rolled out this across television, radio and digital, according to Victorian Health Minister, Martin Foley.

Still from the campaign

M&C Saatchi Melbourne was responsible for the campaign and has handled the creative work on past campaigns for the health messaging from the Victorian Government.

Foley said yesterday that the campaign will be running as long as it is needed, and encouraged Victorians to get tested to protect the community.

The campaign launches this week, as Melbourne is in its 6th lockdown, recording 57 positive cases on Thursday 19 August.

Earlier this year, Omnicom Media Group agency OMD won the Victoria Government master media account, worth a reported $100 million following a pitch. The incumbent on the account was GroupM agency MediaCom.

This story was updated from an earlier version to confirm M&C Saatchi were responsible for the campaign.
