Victorian Transport Accident Commission seeks new creative agency

The government department at the centre of the the multi-award-winning Meet Graham campaign, the Victorian Transport Accident Commission (TAC), has announced it is going to tender for its advertising services via a competitive process.

The account is currently held by Clemenger BBBO, the agency behind the Meet Graham campaign

Last time the contract was up for tender in 2013, 26 agencies threw their hats in the ring.

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne ultimately won the account after the government body ended its 24-year relationship with Grey, in what was described as a ‘huge surprise’ to the agency.

TAC noted the winning agency must be based in Victoria and would be charged with delivering world-class planning, creation and production of road safety campaigns.

The process is at expressions of interest (EOI) stage, which will close on August 3, and will be run by probity advisers, Pitcher Partners.

TAC senior manager of engagement Meg Jacobs said the tender process would ensure Victoria’s renowned road safety campaigns remained at the forefront of public education and behaviour change.

“Public education is critical to reducing the number of lives lost and injuries on Victorian roads,” she said.

“This competitive tender presents an opportunity to ensure our campaigns are underpinned by Victoria’s best creative thinking and insights.”

Clemenger BBDO’s Meet Graham campaign won 28 Lions for the agency in 2017, including eight gold.

It also took home 16 gongs at the AWARD Awards including Best in Show last year.

The agency was also named Agency of the Year at the Effie Awards, after the campaign secured a number of wins.

It emerged as the most-awarded agency in the world at the 2017 D&AD Awards in London, with Meet Graham winning the Black Pencil as the most-awarded campaign of the night.

The campaign also won the Mumbrella Award for Bravery in 2017.
