Viewers say ‘no grazie’ to Italian Masterchef

The fluctuating fortunes of MasterChef saw its audience drop on Sunday compared to the same time a week ago.

Ten’s flagship reality show rated 800,000 for the start of its Italian week on Sunday, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTAM. This was down on last Sunday’s 890,000 and fourth in its timeslot. Last Sunday had seen a 40 per cent jump in Masterchef’s audience.

In the 7.30 battle, Nine’s 60 Minutes was top with 1.557m viewers. Seven’s Border Security was next with 1.079m viewers. ABC1’s Grand Designs was third with 914,000.

Top show for the night was The Block’s 1.653m on Nine.

The top Australian drama was Seven’s A Place To Call Home which rated 1.196m. Nine’s House Husbands rated 1.028m. ABC1’s The Time Of Our Lives rated 803,000.

In Ten’s chosen demographic of 25-54, Masterchef fared much better, rising from 12th for the night to eighth. t also moved past Border Security and Grand Designs.

In overall share for Sunday night, Nine won with a 25 per cent share, followed by Seven’s 22.7. Ten rated 12.5 per cent and ABC1 was on 12.1 per cent.
