The agency was one of three on the final shortlist, fending off PHD and Initiative in the final round of the pitch, from an initial shortlist of eight agencies.

Dale Stratford, general manager marketing at Racing Victoria said: “We are delighted, in conjunction with the Melbourne Racing Club, to have Vizeum manage the media buying for our key brands and events like the Spring Racing Carnival and Relaxed Racing.

“This partnership will ensure that we have a strategically integrated communications plan for what is a dynamic media landscape.”

Jason Shugg, general manager, marketing & membership at Melbourne Racing Club, said: “Melbourne Racing Club is thrilled to be partnering with Vizeum. From the first meeting, the Vizeum team showed a great understanding of our business and industry and we believe they are another crucial element in our consumer-centric approach for growing the business.”

Mumbrella first revealed that the high profile Melbourne account was pitching back in February, with a shortlist of agencies emerging in April.

This is the first time the two racing organisations have pitched together with the account for Victoria’s principal racing authority, along with three of the state’s biggest racecourses, thought to have a media spend of around $3-4m, most of which will be spent in the run up to the Spring Carnival.

“The Racing Industry in Victoria has ambitious plans for the future and were seeking a partner that could help build a more structured and strategic approach to their marketing effort,” said Travis Day, managing director of Vizeum Melbourne.
