Volkswagen reveals full extent of partnership with The Block

Volkswagen has revealed the extent of its PHD-brokered sponsorship deal on Nine’s The Block, which launched on Sunday.

The previously announced partnership will see Volkswagen supplying Tiguan medium SUVs to the show’s contestants during their renovations throughout the series. The car maker will also sponsor over $110,000 in cash prizes as part of the weekly Room Reveal segments.

Volkswagen will providePassat Alltrack wagons for contestants when the show goes on a field trip to Mount Buller during the series.

Rowena Kanna, marketing communications manager at Volkswagen Australia, said in a media statement: “We are excited to partner with Channel Nine and The Block. The Tiguan was the perfect vehicle for The Block contestants – providing the latest in technology and safety features plus the space and comfort needed through the tough renovations.”

Communications manager at PHD Content, Christian Heath, added: “We’re really proud to have worked on this partnership between our client Volkswagen and The Block. As one of the most loved programs in Australia, The Block provides great integration opportunities and was the ideal sponsorship platform for a tech-focused brand like Volkswagen.”

The Block’s thirteenth series launched on Sunday night and beat Australian Survivor in Sunday evening’s OzTAM preliminary metro ratings.
