Waititi joins Adelaide fest jury

The BigPond Adelaide Film Festival has revealed the identity of the jury for its International Award for Best Feature Film.

The jury will be headed by Julietta Sichel (Karlovy Vary Film Festival), who will work with Pierre Rissient (Cannes), Hossein Valamanesh (Iranian/Australian contemporary artist), Trevor Groth (Sundance) and NZ director Taika Waititi.

The twelve narrative features competing for the award will be announced in January. At least one of them will be Australian, and the jury will look for “a distinctive voice, bold storytelling, and creative risk-taking—but more than anything, a film that genuinely engages and transports the viewer”.

The winner will be announced on the closing night of the festival.
