Walkley Awards deadline extended

The deadline to enter this years Walkley Awards – for excellence in Australian journalism –  has been extended until 5pm Monday September 6.  

The announcement:

Federal elections place a strain on journalists, and everyone is feeling it. As a result the Walkley Foundation has extended this year’s deadline for all Walkley Award entries to 5pm, Monday September 6.

There will be no further extensions, so don’t delay. Close Twitter and turn off the live feed long enough to send us your best work. Entering is easy, click through right now.


Print based entries including photography and cartoon/artwork can be uploaded. No need to post!

Photography finalists will be announced on Thursday, October 14 and general finalists will be announced nationally on Wednesday, October 20 at satellite events in Sydney and Melbourne. Winners will be announced at the gala presentation dinner at Crown Ballroom in Melbourne on Thursday, December 9.

PLEASE NOTE: Some organisations are experiencing difficulties filling in entries using Internet Explorer 6 that isn’t compatible with our entry site. If you experience this problem, complete your online entry without uploading your work, and then forward your confirmation email to walkleys@walkleys.com with your work attached. The email size limit is 10MB.
