Warner Media appoints regional head of marketing and brand services, Athreyan Sundararajan

Warner Media has named Athreyan Sundararajan as the company’s vice president of marketing and brand services for the region of Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The appointment also covers Australia and New Zealand.

The newly-created position will see him take charge of marketing, social media, creative services, and data and insights for Warner Media’s kids and entertainment pillars. He’ll also be looking after Warner brands including Cartoon Network, Boomerang, HBO, Cinemax, Warner TV and Oh!K.

“Athreyan is a superb addition to our new-look team, and a key piece of the puzzle as we put the finishing touches on our management structure,” said the region’s managing director, Clement Schwebig, to whom Sundararajan will report.

“With his broad experience across the region, he is the perfect choice as we drive to bring out the best in our brands and showcase our world-class content and experiences.”

Sundararajan will be based in Singapore, and joins from Fox Networks Group, where he was senior vice president of marketing and commercial strategy, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. Recently, he oversaw the set up of Disney Media Networks’ brand solutions and partnerships team in Singapore.

He has also worked at agencies such as Leo Burnett and JWT in India.

Warner Media Entertainment Networks and Sales is bringing together the Turner and HBO businesses, as announced late last year. Marianne Lee was responsible with integrating the teams as part of an interim structure, and will now transition to a new role supervising special projects in the region.

The appointment follows last week’s multi-year deal with Foxtel.
